Need a little help pls

As you can see i have a very old boiler, but here is the problem, it will fire up for about 30secs and cut out, with pilot light still alight, also the pump on the system is very hot on top, or is this just because it is working overtime due to boiler not working?

Grateful for any help pls.

Sounds like the pump has stuck and the boiler is just cycling because of no flow.

Could be why the pump feels so hot as well.

Undo the large screw in the center of the pump and insert a flat bladed screwdriver, locate it on the shaft and see if you can turn the pump.

just un-screwed top of pump, moves freely but once power back on nothing so think pump is knackered, also would this cause the boiler to stop working after 30secs.

thanks dave for advice.

Yes. It sounds like a new pump needed

Check for 240VAC at pump terminals first though ;)

are you saying it spins until it gets power then it stops? in which case the pump is kaput, otherwise is there enough water in the system?

yes enough water in system.

and pump spins freely when turned with screw driver, but once power is back on nothing happens.

and many thanks for feed back
