Hi, I am building a stud wall with plasterboard finish. I want to install an electric fire, the type that insets into the wall. The strength of the frame will be fine, but I'm not sure how the opening should be structured.
The opening will be 50cm x 70 cm, and the inset depth is 55mm.
The fire is electric, and the heat output is essentially a fan heater in the hood blowing into the room.
Do I need extra heat protection, it seems as if the plasterboard wall is fine, but do I need to line the opening with something different?
Any advice gratefully received, Steve
