Inside drivers door lock button won't depress

I have a W reg Ford Focus estate and the button on the door latch to lock the drivers door won't move.

So the door wont lock and cannot be locked by the key either.

This means the central locking won't work

All other doors are fine

Will this be cured by changing the inside handle mechanism?

there is very little to go wrong with the inside handle mechanism so i would suspect a jamming somewhere of the door lock itself. Try putting some wd40 in both the keyhole and the lock workings and operating it, if this fails then its going to be door panel off to inspect whats happening.
