The master bedroom of our house is very cold. My wife would like to turn it into a nursery but we need to make it a warmer before we can.
The house is 1950s and has chimneys in the bedrooms which I intend to have blocked up shortly. In addition we have a window bay window which I think is contributing.
From the ground to the gound floor window is normal cavity wall on which sits the bay window. Above this is an almost identical bay window which reaches up to the sofit. Running from from the brick wall to the roof are wooden bay poles. Between the top of the ground floor window and the bottom of the bedroom window is a "wall". The external face is made up of tiles right round the bay. The internal face is plasterboard (I think).
I've seen other houses like this around....
Does anyone know what, if any, insulation is between the tiles and plasterboard? I'm guessing none, which might explain why the bedroom is cold all the time.
Anyone know a good solution to this problem?
