I am toying with the idea of something like these to separate a long living room and kitchen extension. The idea being that I can enjoy some open plan living, but also shut the kitchen off from the lounge for peace and quiet too. But, I am not sure if these doors will really stop the rumble of the washing machine or the clatter of pans, or even a loudish conversation between rooms. Any suggestions for what could work, without breaking the bank. I will probably not bother, and just have more wall ..... the doors will go between the lounge desk and dining table, which will also mean putting the rads somewhere else.

You realise that this is just a fitting kit? Not any doors?

You would need to make some panels (or have them made) either wood and glass, or better, a wooden frame fillled with something as dense as possible (like plasterboard) faced with thick ply. Any gaps should be as small as possible of have a rebate and seal.

Commercial partitions like this work pretty well.
