Internal render on gable end?

Hi i really need some advice i have gutted my 1950's stone semi but i cannot decide what to do about my gable end.The house is on the end of a row and gets the full force of the weather on it being on a hill doesn't help.At sometime in the bottom corner there has been some damp we have since repointed the house but we are still not sure if this has solved it.So i need some ideas on some sort of damp prevention as well as insulation against the weather.If anyone can share ideas that would be great.
