Hello

I need to join 2 pieces of skirting board onto a long wall. I understand that the correct way of doing this is by cutting both end at a 45 degree angles. However I have used this method on another wall found it to be a pain, joins not fitting properly etc. On another wall I simply joined the 2 skirting flat against each other, is it butt end I mean??? Anyway I found this so much easier. So this time round I'm seriously thinking about doing it my way but is it really supposed to done with a 45 degree cuts? Why?

Less chance of the wood shrinking back and exposing a gap if 45 degree joint is used. Not much hassle if you have a decent mitre saw. A drop of glue helps hold the 2 parts together as well I find.

i normally use a couple of small pins aswell as glue just to make sure.
