kitchen sockets

Hi im fitting a new kitchen and the existing sockets need to be lowered by about a foot , i cant pull any spare cable through from upstairs as they are sheathed and plastered over in the wall. Do i have to channel them out and replace the cable run or can i add a extra foot of cable and if so what connectors do i use ....thanks

It would be by far the best idea to recable... as you are renovating the kitchen this shouldn't really be too much of an issue
