Hi, have revently moved to a new house and the light fittings seem to be different as they have a square fitting with energy bulb. Could anyone tell me if i have to replace the whole ceiling rose. I have posted a pic in my album. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Wouldn't it be easier just to get some new lamps (bulbs) for them?

You'll probably find that the shades you have do not fit the low energy holders too. They require a larger sized hole.

Another great reason for changing them.

Yes, just change the lampholder.

Make sure you get plastic ones as the flex emerging from the rose won't have an earth.

Those lampholders you have now are nothing but aggro, as you've found it's probably inconvenient getting replacement lamps.
