Hey folks,

Can someone please enlighten me (pardon the pun  ) as to what the standards are for lights over a shower.

I see B&Q are selling an integrated light / fan unit but it gives no indication as to the Zone, I know its Zone A or 1 or something but what exactly does that signify.

As usual thanks in advance.

it can't be defined as any zone until you decide on it's location.

the fan should have a suitability code i:e suitable for zone 1, zone 2,
look at part P for definative measurements of zones (zone 0 is under the bath so long as it is enclosed, zone 3 no longer exists)
once you decide it is in a zone then check it is suitable for installing in that zone.

Thanks Kevindgas,

the light / fan will be positioned directly over the shower so I presume that is Zone 1.

Does this zone require differnt bulbs because the B&Q unit looks like the 12v bulbs you see in downlighters etc.

They seem a bit 'unsafe'

zone 1
width of shower encloser x 2.25 metres from floor

zone 2
width 0.6metres from shower and up to 2.25 metres from floor

the fitting will have the zone suitability written on the box normally

the bulbs are irrellevant as the fitting needs to comply not the bulb
