Hi

I am planning to do loft conversion this year with dormer. I have a subsidence where i live so wondered if i need to get a structural engineer to survey my house if it can hold the extra load or is that structural calculations?

Ideally i wanted to do these things myself than via builder as i want to decide whether to do loft conversion based on this.

Thanks

Loads from a loft conversion are negligible and not a concern.

But if you have subsidence, then that needs to be dealt with as a separate issue, irrespective of any loft conversion
