Loft ladder replacement pole needed

Hi,

I have got hold of a Abru metal loft ladder, but it did not come with the pole to lower and re-stow it.

I have found a couple online but they are £20, which seems a lot.

Found on eBay some catch openers, but they don't look especially suitable for pulling down the ladder.

Does anyone know any cheaper versions or alternatives?

Screw a hook into the end of a broom handle.

A good ironmongers will sell you a nice brass hook and broom handle

Maybe that will be better than the metal pole on my other loft ladder!
