Our hot water is set to come on at 3.30am (I have to be up early for work) and when it switches on, there is a loud bang. After that we hear the usual gurgling and pipe expansion which is normal but the bang is a bit puzzling.

I am afraid that a pipe is going to burst.

Has anyone any idea?

I have a theory that it may be somethign to do with the pressure but I'm only hypothesising.

I cant help :) ..... but if you give more details of the heating\hot water system you have then you will probably get a response ;)
