Hi, hope someone can help. We have a mixer tap on our kitchen sink which has been in place since we before we moved in, with no problems until recently.

We our now getting increasingly low pressure from the cold water only and this is much more noticeable after running the hot water - we now have to wait 5/10 mins after running hot water before we can get any cold water at all and then it is very low.

Is this likely to be a problem with the tap or with the water supply or boiler? We have got no other problems with any other taps in the house or with the upstairs or downstairs loos.

Hope you can help, thanks :D

Could be one of two things - tap needs a new washer, or mains supply has degraded. Suspect the former.

First off, assuming you have a conventional hot water cylinder and storage tank(s), check both your internal and external water stop taps are fully opened. If either are partially closed there could be an excessive water pressure drop as your cold storage tank re-fills after using a hot tap.

This often only affects only the kitchen cold tap as it may be the only tap fed directly off the rising main. All other taps are often fed via the cold storage tank.
