Low energy Floodlight

Had to remove our floodlight when the conservatory was built.

Now BBQ season is on it's way if not here already and I could do with fitting another for the late night partys etc.

I don't need a big lamp as I've only a small garden but I do need it to light past the conservatory as the floodlight will be on the main house.

So....
I'm open to energy efficient (£ saving ) solutions.
For starters are these any good ?

They will save you a good bit but with less light.

I like these, have one as a work light and one as outside light, you need the bulb separately though.

go low tech, try "tiki torches".. you can put citronella in them to keep the bugs away as well..

@ OP, we retro fitted some of the lamps in your link into some existing 500W floods for a customer, and they were quite dissapointing.

Personally I would use a PL flood. I fitted a couple on a pub, and they do a good job of illuminating the beer garden.

Good in theory but..

I don't just want the light for party's it'll be quite handy when I let the dog out for his business too.

He's a black lab and it's quite hard to see him in the dark waiting to come back in at the moment.

I could also see issues with tiki torches and his tail.

I use a 70w Metal Halide lamp and that is more than ample to light whole garden. Makes the 300W flood light next door look weak.
