Hi everyone,

I'm looking to undertake a project to design and make a hanging pub sign for outside my garage door... (converting the garage to a boys pub!)

I'm going for a plywood WBP board with a softwood frame (either pine or mahogany), screwing the pieces together... then will paint the main picture using artists acrylic paint and using a black gloss for the boarders. I'm planning to apply several undercoats and layers of gloss by what I'm not sure about is...

1. whether I need to treat the wood before I apply the undercoat
2. what type of paint would be best for the lettering

Has anyone attempted such a project before or think that my approach is completely wrong, or my choice of materials are wrong?

Any help greatly appreciated!![/list]
