I have a mixer tap in the kitchen which I am having a problem fixing. The are 1/4 turn taps and the hot water one seems to have lost its thread and refused to turn off. I managed to turn this off eventually but cannot seem to but a new tap head. Is it this I need or is it something else?

How did you turn it off?

What do you mean by "lost its thread"?

Does it have a stripped spline adaptor?

Is the cartridge seized or seizing?

What make/model is it?

How old it it?

Do you have a photo?

THe tap is a cruciform sink mixer - see link.

I suspect that we need a new rotary joint - i.e. the turning joint that bears on the hex valve that releases the water . The inside of the plastic hex thread is worn and will not bear on the hex valve. Swapping of the heads solved the problem ergo we need a new head/rotary joint.

Where can we get one of those?
Thanks for listening.
