I have installed a modern mixer tap unit which has a cold and hot water feed. I have place isolating valves on both the cold and the hot water feeds. The hot water is fine but when I turn the cold water feed on the noise is unbearable and can be heard in every room of the house.
My thought is that the pipes in the tap assembly go down to 8mm dia and the mains pressure is so strong that it has created turbulence in the pipe.
anyone have any ideas on how to reduce the noise

pressure reducing valve set to 1 bar should make the difference but will reduce flow as well. i guess u are on mains cold & low pressure hot (tank fed cylinder ). If u get the type with a pressure gauge its easier to set but not cheap.
