I am painting the rendered walls of my house with masonry paint but have had to repair a few patches with new mortar. How long should I leave the new mortar before painting?

In fine warm weather re-pointing should be dry in 24-48 hours.

You can't beat using your eyes. The mortar will obviously be visibly dry by the way is goes pale or lighter in shade.
