Hi All, can someone advise me please?
We have bought a 1920 bungalow, which has pise de terre walls - compounded earth and stones rendered with lime render.
The ceilings are in very poor condition and different levels now we have changed the internal wall layout.
I would like to make a suspended wooden batten frame and plasterboard onto it and then skim.
As the walls are fragile I do not want to drill into them.
I also want to have inset spotlights into bathroom and kitchen areas so need space at back of these for ventilation and also secondary ceiling would help improve insulation.
Can I support the new framework from existing ceiling joists by about 6" - 8"? If so what do I use? Thought about all-thread or brackets, but need to cover about 32 sq metres - any ideas.
