Nissan Micra heater matrix

Hi,
My 2002 1400cc Micra has developed a leak in the heater matrix - at least I assume it is the matrix as there is anti-freezed based liquid dripping in the passenger footwell and the windows are misting up when the heater it turned on.
It would appear that the dashboard needs to be removed to get to the matrix.
Can anyone tell me please:
1. If you have done this job how easy is it?
2. Does the Haynes manual give information about access to the matrix. I don't have one but if there is useful information in it then I will certainly buy one.
I was quoted £463 to supply and fit a new matrix but know I can buy the matrix itself for £71. Definitely an incentive for DIY

From what I understand its not toooo bad a job.
