no hot water intermit sometimes hot other times luke warm

hi everyone

i have a small problem with my worcester 240 combi boiler

while running hot water tap it came out cold.
i would say 1 in 10 times of turning the tap and running it again i then actually get hot!! water
also did the same on central heating

every time you turn the hot tap/put heating on --- the pilot flame, lights up each time though,so gas is present each time but the flame will not ignite the main flame (combustion tank).
the exhaust fan is a-ok as you can hear that running.

my own thought is that could it be thermostat or hot water sensor, but i know nothing about boilers

Yes, I can see that.

If you have described the problem correctly then I cannot suggest anything obvious and you will probably need a competent engineer to attend.
