No hot water or heating

When i turn the hot water on or central heating on the boiler fires up for a short time then goes off. Earlier today we turned the water off to drain down most of the hot water to repair a mixer shower. After fixing this we tried to get some hot water but the boiler keeps tunring itself off. can anyone help

could be an air lock in the boiler, have you run the hot and the cold taps

Check the hot pipework is not leaking, a slow drip can have this effect on some combi boilers.

what type of boiler, combi etc, make and model, reading on any pressure guage

do you have a hot water cylinder (usualy in an airing cupboard)
