My boiler is constantly on but both water pipes going in and coming out are stone cold. Hence no hot water or Central Heating.

The pump seems to be going around.

The other thing is that I bled my upstairs radiators yesterday, and they needed bleeding again today. :( [/quote]

I think it is a gravity fed system, and has a Potterton netaheat boiler.

Conventional system (gravity fed I think), it has a pump. And the boiler is a potterton Netaheat. The boiler fires up but like I say the input and output pipes are stone cold.

Dead pump perhaps. Are you sure it gets all the way through the clunk tick clunk to firing? The fan's pretty loud. If it lights with no water flowing it must turn off pdq or it would boil.

The pump has a plastic cover in the middle which you can unscrew and the spindle is going around.

I will do the usual hammering of the pump to see if that does any good.

You can switch the speed of the pump up but when you do this you get a lot of gushing sounds in the system.

The system has a 3 way electrical valve which was humming a while ago, but it has since stopped making a noise and the water and heating has worked since it stopped humming (i think). It does have power to it so I assume that it works. Could it be this and is there any way I can test this? :?:

As this my first time I done this type of thing I would appreciate some answers, I will offer help in my own trade as an electrician.
