I have an air extractor that has a timer on it and has been rigged up to switch on when the bathroom light is switched on and then stays on for the timed period after the light is switched off.

If I want to make this turn on when the light is switched on and off when the light is switched off, can I do this without having to buy another extractor that does not have the timer facility?

For example, can I put both permanent live and switched live cables into the switched live port on the timer would this work?

No, put the switched live in both.
Safely terminate the permanent live not connected to anything else.

You could try turning the timer setting to 'min'. It may be a very short time.
