I have a Concord WRS 255 boiler (very ancient) which fires up for 45 seconds and then stops. I have changed the thermocoupler in the past which has solved the problem. Unfortunately it hasn't this time!

Can any one help please?

water is not circulating so boiler is overheating.

might be the pump. take off the silver screw in the middle and see if the the spindle can by turned with a screwdriver.

check there is plenty of water in the system by inspecting the small tank in the loft, and bleeding the highest radiator in the system to verify that water squirts out forcefully. If the water is black you might have a blockage.

John,

You were right about the water not circulating but it was some sort of 'breather valve' in the water pipe above the boiler which had become clogged up with lime scale (?). Sorry for delayed thanks. Computer went wrong!

I think your breather valve is probably the pressure release valve that used to be fitted on older systems

John, hopefully you can help me again!

Bolier works and so do radiators but no hot water comes out of taps! (but it does with the emersion heater on) Have you got any ideas??!!
