Hi All,
Unsure if this is the most appropriate forum section, but here goes...
New property had some water damage several months/years ago. It appears a leak from a broken pipe and/or broken seal underneath the bath caused some havoc. From what I can see the pipes have been repaired, albeit some broken wall/insulation left behing. Nothing was ever done about the water damage.
1) Neighbouring bedroom wall and carpet stained and molded. Floor is concreate.
We have taken the step of removing the carpet and underlay, plus the skirting board. This area has now been treated with bleach.
Do we need to do more in the bathroom and bedroom to clean the mold/damage? Ie takedown any walls or sandaway anything? Visible damage looks limited to floor, but maybe this has creeped upwards?
2) Bath seals broken.
We know that the bath seals were leaking as a result. We have tried resealing with some sealant however this doesn't seem effective or pretty.
I read that 'polycell flexible seal' may be a solution. Would we need to remove all existing seals or can polycell go over it? Is anything additional needed?
3) Bath does not seem repositioned properly. Bath creaks when you step inside. Some movement between wall tiles and bath.
It seems that when the major leak was fixed, bits and pieces were broken and not replaced. How can we determine if the bath is securely in place?
As a real novice DIY'er I am considering if I need to bring in an expert but not certain if a plumber is enough or need a handyman?
Any suggestions/ideas on where to start?
