Hi, We are having the bathroom re-vamped and at present we have three pipes coming down
from the ceiling; 22mm Cold Feed to cistern and bath, 22mm Hot feed to bath, 15mm cold feed returning through wall to kitchen. The guy doing this job said he can do away with both the 22mm pipes as we are having the bath removed permanently and then he can run one pipe to feed the cistern and kitchen. Is that acceptable?

the 15mm is probably the rising main and it sounds like he know what he's @:notworthy:

If the cistern was fed from the cold tank in the loft and is being changed to be fed from the rising main then ensure he changes the float valve in the cistern from the present low pressure valve to a high pressure valve.

If you are loosing the tank in the loft then you will be dependent on the mains water supply. If the water is ever cut off ( burst water main etc ) then you will only be able to flush the toilet once.

Thanks. The tank in the loft came out when we had a combi system installed 18 mths ago. As the toilet and cistern will be new I would expect that the float valve would be present.

I wouldn't think so ! But they have got to come out as they will be redundant.
