Hi
lots of schools and offices have double glazing where the glass is either mirror or tinted so you cant look in but you can look out, and this obviously lets the light in.

I live on a main road, cars are always queueing, along with a bus stop outside lol, means lots of nosey people!!!.
I would love to get rid of nets, using blinds means keeping them practically closed and having the light on, and really frosted glass looks stupid, and you cant look out in the little front garden I do have.

Is it possible to have that mirror/tinted "oneway" double glazing in the home? We need complete new windows, so we know it wont be cheap anyway. If it is possible would we have to find a specialist? or would a normal window company supply them?

When you think about it, you would think it would be supplied and fitted as the norm - great for secruity as nobody would know if your in or out ( apart from at night - unless you turn on light and dont close curtains.

And does anyoe know is the glass much more expansive then the normal price of double glazing?

thanks in advance for your help

One way glass would be astronomically expensive, a cheaper option would be mirror film or a tint of some sorts, i guess you just need to google window tinting specialists for your area.

Various companies i've worked for fitting pvc and commercial glazing used to get people out to either film the glass while it was still in our yard or film the glass once it was fitted and we were gone.

mirror films work both ways
as in where ever the greatest light is will see the the mirror so at night you will see the nice shiny side whilst everyboby on the bus admires your skid marks  ;)

thats unless things have improved in recent years :D
