Hi there

Just had our old gas fire removed and trying to decide whether to plaster over or keep the hole for a feature.

The opening is pretty small and messy and the flue blocks taper up so wondering if it's ok (or not) to knock out the pre cast blocks at the bottom? This would allow for a squarer, neater hole in the wall and make it much easier to plaster out. I plan to disconnect in the attic and block the lower part of the flue so no issues with airflow etc.

Would really appreciate advice/options :)
