I’m about to start on my outdoor kitchen . Brick built with buiilt in bbq stainless cupboards etc . Ive also picked up some 2hand granite worktops for it .
What I would really like to do is build an inset fire into one portion of it ( like the interior wood burners but open fronted ) but I’m worried about the heat transfer cracking the granite . There will be 250 mm from the top of the fire to the bottom of the granite countertop . My plan was to fill with a vermiculite mix in this void . With thermalite brick on top of that . Then counter .
Long shot but does anyone have experience of granite & heat or know how effective the insulation I’m planning would be
Thanks in advance
