outlook exppress notifier

should the OE icon appear on my bottom task bar notifieing me of incoming email?....at the moment i have to access it from my desktop icon.

mine does, but only when its checking to see if there is any email.

When it does and there is an email an envelope appears at the bottom right in the system tray, and i get an audible notification

i only get the envelope on the bottom tray with the ping after i click on the desktop OE icon..otherwise i wouldn't know if i've got mail or not,i'll take another look in tools-options.
