Outside Tap

Hi,

For some reason the previous owners of my house fitted an external tap in the garage, so although I can attach a hosepipe to it I inevitably end up with a puddle on the garage floor.

I thought maybe I could extend the pipework for the tap along the garage wall and then connect a new tap on the outside wall, but I am not a plumber! Does anyone know of a proper kit you can buy for extending taps without needing any specialist plumbing knowledge? I'm talking about a distance of around 6-8 metres.

Thanks

Reg

some copper pipe and some compression fittings, and pipe clips (and insulation if its running outside).

tools required - wide jaw pliers and / or gorilla grips or similar. And a drill.

All available from all DIY sheds.

An isolation service valve to "switch off" the outside water run is good - you can open the tap while the valve is shut to stop freezing water splitting the pipe.

remember to buy a double check valve and fit it on the inside to comply with water regs. Not sufficient to use a bib tap containing two check valves, they are not trusted to work in freezing conditions. Screwfix is the cheapest supply of double check valves.
