Walls have been plastered/skimmed some 2 months ago.

If we put two coats of matt magnolia on the walls without any sealer/primer, what would happen? Will the plaster “bleed” through in time, and if this happens, will a third coat of matt magnolia where any patches suffice fix it?

Apply a watered down coat or three 75% paint 25% water. Then do what you like.

If we just put the matt magnolia on two coats straight away what would happen?

Will the wall not have dried out given its been 2 months since it was plastered.

It might just sit there and appear fine, untill you re-paint then it would be liable to come off in sheets.

Dunno why he's so hell bent on ignoring good practice.

If it sways your decision at all, the advice you’ve been give is sound. The only reasons I could think you would want to ignore it is;
a) you’re a cowboy & hope to be long gone.
b) your tarting it up & are not really interested in the problems you will leave for some other poor soul in the future!

It’ll take you a half hour to give the average size room a couple of mist coats, leave it over night & then you can do what you want. :rolleyes:
