can a party wall act be valid without a surveyor. Seems like a big cost. Who can actually take the role of a surveyor? could the builder or building control? Anyone have any information
Anyone can be a party wall surveyor. Your mum, sister, uncle, bloke down the pub. Anybody you like. But I'd choose one that knows what they're doing if I were you.
As above, and if you get your mate to do the award for free, it's likely your neighbour will want a qualified survey and it will be at your expense anyway.
You don't have to do all this if you can agree matters - in writing - with your neighbour.
