How do you write the date?

Most seem to write 7/2/06 meaning the 7th February 2006, but some would interpret as 2nd July 2006. (or February 7, 2006. July 2, 2006).

The first one makes more sense to me, as it is going in order from small to large: day to month to year.

Even so, I write 7Feb06 to avoid any ambiguity.

Isn't there an internet date which is 06-02-07, so year to month to day?

Normally when writing dates I use dd/mm/yy, as that's the UK standard.

When communicating with Americans, I am conscious of the fact that they use mm/dd/yy, and of the confusion that can arise (in both directions) when dd<13.

If I'm using a date as part of a filename, I always use yyyymmdd, as that is guaranteed to sort into date order.
