How much more expensive (percentage wise) do you think DG units with Pilkington Optiphon laminated glass would be compared to DG units with standard double glazing glass?

Alternatively, could two sheets of "regular" laminated glass (each of different thickness) be used in a DG unit to give a more affordable way of providing sound insulation? Sound insulation against traffic noise about 5 metres away from windows.

Thanks

Never used Optiphon to be honest , but dealings with sound proofing laminated in the past, from other suppliers, they were considerably more. A percentage increase would be hard to guage for two reasons, firstly its worked out perm2 but with a minimum ( usually 0.25m2 or 0.3m2 ), secondly , being a specialised glass they seem to carry all sorts of surcharges these days.
The two different thickness of glass is a common way of trying to reduce as much noise as possible because of different frequencies. One thing to bear in mind is how much noise you think you are going to reduce, for example rustling leaves is approx 20db , breathing approx 10db. And then you need to consider if the noise is coming through other parts of the fabric of the building, such as chimneys or poorly insulated roof spaces
