We've recently had an extension and part of the old dining room wall was removed. This has left gaps in our pitch pine parquet floor which I've now got to fill!
The floor is original to the house (built 1929) and I'd like to get it matching as close as possible. I've tried countless reclamation/salvage places with no luck - the blocks in question are an unusually large size (almost 11" x 3"). My next option it to go for new pitch pine and cut the blocks to size, sand the whole floor down and hope it all blends in.
My questions are is it easy to get hold of pitch pine or would I need to go to a specialist timber merchant? Also what are the chances of the floor blending in once complete or will the new blocks stand out like the proverbial sore thumb?
Any advice, suggestions gratefully received.
