In old bungalow. They put up some drywall 30 odd years ago that rotted at bottom due to damp issues (which I am resolving). Drywall was an attempt to improve warmth.

I've ripped all that out, leaving old plastered wall, that's a bit rough. Wondering, should I just put some new board up, dot and dab, or just plaster the old wall? Or, just make good and slap some paint on it.

Plan is to put on some external wall insulation next year, although that will probably be 80mm insulation only, so I did think maybe 20mm insulation could go on this wall in the meantime, to help keep condensation damp to a minimum (and mean that total of 100mm insulation in future will bring up to current thermal stands).

But, not sure ... should I just try to plaster it and see how that goes? Or will that be much harder to get right than putting up some board and just decorating straight to that?

I would think as long as the damp is sorted plasterboard with a small air gap behind can only improve the insulation, maybe go for insulated board while you are at it.
