Anyone know where I could buy some plastic screw caps so that I can cover the metal securing screws on the faceplats of switches and sockets?

Legrand also have sockets with screw plugs.

Never seen a seperate supplier of these items, and I think the plug would depend on the type of fittings use- MK has the screw so near the face of the fitting that you couldn't put a plug on it due to space, contactuim are the same.

Could I suggest a ikkle squirt of maestic- should you really feel it's a necessary requirement?

IIRC the push-in covers are standard in Oz. Either to prevent contact with metal parts or to make it obvious if a householder has interfered with parts that only a qualified electrician should touch
