Hi

I have seen on New Yankee Workshop 'Norm' using a material which is like veneer but comes in large plastic sheets which is glued to the surface of say a table to give a smooth joint free surface. I guess it is like a thicker version of whats on kitchen cabinets.

Anyone know what it's 'technical' name is and where you can get it?

Cheers

Cheers for that, formica is the stuff I was thinking of...

Typical, no prices on their website.

Any idea of prices and sizes Formica is available in?

Proper name is "High Pressure Laminate" usual sheet size is 10x4 ft

You will have to pay about £80 + Vat for plain colours more for grains, colourcore etc and don't forget you need to cover front and back though if the back is not on show you can get sheets of "balancer" for about £20.

Thanks for the info.

Emailed Formica and they say it comes in different lengths but only in 1.2m widths. I want it for a retro style dining table which is 1.8m diameter so no good as a join would look terrible.

Back to the drawing board me thinks!
