I am in a huge money crunch, but must completley remove my OLD vinyl floor from my kitchen/laundry room. Under it is low grade plywood (I\\\'I'm sure). I really want to go Tuscan in my kitchen and would like to stain the floor a deep rust orange color. Here are my thoughts, please bare with me. I\\\'d like to remove old vinyl flooring, sand as much glue as I can off the plywood. Stain and seal with polyurethane. Am I out of my mind or what. P.S. I\\\'ll throw rugs out. I would appreciate any comment.

Plywood = softwood (very liekly). Plywood gets its strength from plying layers together, the 'toplayer' isn't strong or hardwearing. Will end scratched, dented, ugly in no time.
