Hi..l

Trying with Internet and help from you guys... Traccking down a lockout problem... Getting thru things slowly lol...

Okay, so have a potterton 80!combi boiler, that locks out on heating only... Expansion vessel has correct pressure, and pump is okay...

Now I took auto air vent screw off, when the boiler locks out it sometimes makes a knocking n clanging noise, and some water squirts out the top of the auto airvent... Does this give anyone any ideas??!!

Thanks in advance

That sounds as if the pump is stopping, a heat sensor is faulty or intermittent or another fault!

I am assuming its a permanent pilot model and overheating to turn off the pilot?

Or do you mean its an electronic ignition and a lock out light comes on on the panel?

It's electrics ignition... No pilot...

I'm changing the auto air vent... So will see what happens :)

unscrew the silver central screw on the pump. If when running the heating you push a long flat blade screwdriver (broad one) in the hole And the pump stops then it's the pump. If you've only just started using the heating again the pump may have seized (use screwdriver) Otherwise there is an obstruction. Is the flow / return valves open?
