Hi, I moved into a house last year which had a Potterton Suprima 50 Combi Boiler installed.

From day 1 i have had the same problem, the boiler cuts out when heating water.. The Central Heating works fine and there are no issues if just running that but when it tries to heat water it will ignite and work for a few minutes/seconds depening on how it is feeling then cut out with the Red LED flashing. It is as though the water temp has got too hot and the boiler has cut out, however you are lucky the water is luke warm.

The problem is steadily getting worse and was wondering if anyone had any advice.

Thanks

If the system has been installed correctly and heating is working fine then it sounds like the byepass on the hot water circuit is either incorrectly adjusted or blocked with dirt, if you are not up on CH basics it would be better to get a heating engineer to check it out and rectify, the temperature drop across the flow and return to the boiler will need setting up to whatever the installation instructions specify, probably 11 deg C.

Typically - in the airing cupd look for the two pipes from the suprima which go into th e side of the hot water cylinder. The upper one could have an air bleed valve on it, operable by rad vent key, screwdriver or small spanner. Undo until water comes out.

If ther was an air-lock in there water from the boiler wouldn't circulate, giving hot boiler and cold hot water!

COuld be other things - Full sysytem description please.
