What do you mean "these are s***s?" Do you mean the Envoy? I have a few BG friends who i did my training with they also said these are a nightmare.

If you are going to touch one of these you need to get every seal, you will need it.

Awful things

I spoke to a BG Man today who said exactly that.

Listen to what people are telling you..stay well clear....tell your mate to bin the bloody thing.

Im in complete agreement with you HOWEVER the problem is one which im sure you will have experienced.

The customer keeps pointing out it was OK till i touched it which im pretty certain is a lie or a truth exageration! I now need a way back heel it!!

What did you do exactly on this "service"

Fan out, Burner out, check gas pressure etc.. In fact the only thing i didnt do was clean the trap.

Any seals replaced? I have never dropped the burner out of one of these without having to replace the sump/burner seal.

I can see this turning into one of them "you live and learn jobs".

When you service an appliance it doesn't mean that is guarenteed never to break down.

Tell them you will look at it but tell them its fully chargable.

Thank you for your wise words. I am going to pick up a seal kit 2moro and take another look over it.

Its most definately a live and learn job, with this being my 1st year on Gas i am still finding out which Boilers are "Bad uns"

Thanks Again.

Thats a great point scat

if the burner seal has gone then the thermister that protects the fan will lock out the boiler

Good luck

Sometimes this job will do your nut in but keep your chin up and it you will get your rewards.

During a service how many seals need to be replaced?

If you want to do it right you will need:

Flue gater (which muppet designed that)

Flue hood/heat ex(top) seal

Burner/sump seal.

Fan seal

New washer on condensate/sump connection

I think its a good idea to change the igniter and if you do you need an igniter seal.

The last one i worked on the sump fell to bits when i tried to remove the condensate trap connection
