Potterton Netaheat 16-22 takes ages to fire up

I have a Potterton Netaheat 16-22 that has problems starting. When the boiler switches on the exhaust fan starts, after a few seconds relay operates and then all you can hear is a click, click sound that can go on for anything up to 10 minutes as the boiler tries to light. Eventually it does light but it can take upto 10 minutes every time. Any ideas / thoughts / advice?

Clearly your boiler needs a proper service by someone who understands your old boiler.

It must be a gas safe registered person as that model can be dangerous.
