Powermax 155 (again)

Hi
I live i Bedford and have in the house a powermax 155 which needs servicing but i cannot find anyone to do it. Its a longshot I know but can anyone recommend someone fairly local to me?? I have rung loads of people but no one seems interested when I mention this boiler!!

Go to BG. They will take it on.

That model does really need regular servicing as there can be significant safety issues. That is why few engineers want to get involved with them. In practice only BG and Baxi will usually take them on and only a very few independents.

The way we deal with safety aspects has changed during the last two years and it may now be classed as unsafe so be aware of that.

You seem very keen to get it serviced. That often means that there is really a fault rather than just needing a routine service. I always consider it best to declare any issues before anyone attends.

This man's a specialist, but I don't know whether you're out of his range. He may know of someone closer to you, or you may find someone mentioned in the archives on his discussion forum.

Mike is in West Reading and he will travel anywhere to fix his favourites.

But he does charge for his travel time and you could ask him how much.

He is the only engineer I know who does that but its very sensible policy. Because he specialises in thermal stores and Powermaxes it does mean that people who have a problem getting something fixed can still get him to it.

The rest of us have to absorb the time/cost of travelling to some degree.
