Hello

I have woken this morning to no hot water or central heating, I checked the boiler (Powermax 155x) and the green burner light is not lighting up / on but the lock out switch is not on.

Does anyone have any ideas? this is the first problem we have had with this boiler and am not sure who is best to call as get the impression from the forum this is a bit of a specialist / tricky boiler.

Any help would be much appreciated.

See the mfrs instructions for a fault finding guide (partsarena.com/baxi).
SOme faults on these are ordinary and boring, others elusive and entertaining.

Yes it's worth making sure whoever comes is familiar or capable, and honest. Not always easy.

There is a manual o/h stat that may have tripped but if you reset it you need to treat the actual underlying problem that caused it to overheat.

Hello Agile

How do you go about reseting it?

I am at work at the moment so have just turned the boiler off for the time being, I did try turning it off for 10 seconds and then back on as if the lock out switch had come on but this did not work.

Thanks

Do you have a built in timer, if so are the red leds on and bright ?

Have you checked this?

We had a similar thing about a year ago - we had to replace the green box which controls the firing mechanism..... basically it wouldn't ignite.

We bought a Westbury home and they seem to have fitted them in all the houses on our estate - everyone seems to have issues with them - I have a problem of my own at them minute which has meant being without water or heating for three weeks.

That is what is happening to mine, it won't ignite - RAAL.

I have someone coming out tomorrow but before they can do anything they need to move the small water tank/reservoir that the builders have placed on a shelf on top of the boiler, which just happens to be a lot less than the recommended 400mm clearance that the instructions tell you you should have for servicing requirements.

Why do you never find out these things until it goes wrong and the builders are long gone! I really hope that it isn't going to take 3 weeks you have my full sympathy it has only been 2 very cold days so far.

I have looked on parts arena at the fault finding guide the burner won't ignite but the orange neon isn't lit I will show this to my engineer tomorrow.

fingers crossed.

The orange neon is lit, I am getting mixed up between the orange neon for mains and the lock out neon that comes on.

Have you tried resetting by switching off for 10 seconds and have you checked the overheat stat

Yes tried switching off for 10 secs but when I switch it on it attempts to ignite and green light flicks on then goes off again. I haven't checked the overheat stat as I do not know how to.
