My circuit breaker tripped the other day - my gf reset it but it kept wanting to trip back so she just held it down and eventually it stayed on (I was out at the time)

Now I discover the electricty supply to the boiler is dead. I suspect a fuse has gone somewhere but I have checked the obvious ones. Will there be something actually within the circuit breaker that can be reset?

Apologies for ingorance and I will get a professional to look at it, just wanted a second opinion.

Thanks

The circuit breaker is there to protect the wiring & equipment.

If she held it down, something else has probably fused. If you're lucky, it'll be a fuse in the boiler, if you're unlucky it could be the wiring between the circuit breaker and the boiler. If you're really unlucky, it could be the boiler...

An electrician should be able to test the cable continuity to see if that has fused. If it has, then it'll need a new cable (which could be a big job!)
