I wonder if anyone can advise me on what material we should use to wrap around the drainage pipe that runs through our foundations. The Building Inspector said that we can use a compressible material to wrap around it, but I have tried calling suppliers to get suitable goods but no one knows what I am on about!

As Nige has said use fibreglass insulation.
We use 100mm cavity batts wrapped around the pipe and taped off with duct tape.
Don't use polystyrene as it is not practical or all that compressible.
